The remains of some of the old villages in the Plover Cove basin. Several Hakka villages were displaced when the reservoir was constructed, including Sam Mun Tsai village. The reservoir was completed in 1968 and had an original capacity of 170 million cubic metres. This capacity was increased to 230 million cubic metres in 1973 when work raising the height of the dams was completed. You can read an article about Plover Cove here.
